The Notre Dame community will mark the beginning of the fourth annual Walk the Walk Week and Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration on Sunday, January 20 with a Candlelight Prayer Service, led by Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., in the Main Building Rotunda at 11:00 p.m. All are welcome to this interfaith service.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Luncheon will follow on Monday, January 21, at 11:30 a.m. in the North Dome of the Joyce Center. Classes are canceled from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to allow all members of the University community to attend. The campus-wide luncheon will include a panel discussion, “A Call to Love: Bridging the Racial Divide,” featuring seven members of the Notre Dame community. Read about the panelists here.
The event is open to all Notre Dame staff, students, and faculty and is free, but ticketed. Tickets will be made available through your department.
If you are not able to attend the campus-wide luncheon at the Joyce Center, you are invited to gather with friends and colleagues for Community Building Lunches in the campus dining halls to continue the day’s conversations. Lunch is complimentary from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday January 21 with a Notre Dame ID.
