Gender Relations Center (GRC)

HOW TO HELP A FRIEND: EMOTIONAL DATING VIOLENCE
Wednesday, October 4, 5:30 - 7 p.m., Duncan Student Center, Room 134
Please join the GRC during Relationship Violence Awareness Month to discuss the effects of emotional dating violence. The evening will begin with a presentation from University Counseling Center (UCC) staff member Peter Barnes and will conclude with kintsugi, a restorative activity. Chipotle will be served. RSVP preferred.

BARBIE FEST
Saturday, October 7, 9 - 11 p.m., Library Lawn
This October, think outside the (Barbie) box and explore what it means to be your authentic self. Join the GRC and the Student Activities Office (SAO) in your best costume as we defy stereotypes and remind ourselves that we are all enough. Food trucks, Barbie themed raffle prizes, trivia, and more!

Wednesday, October 11, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Duncan Student Center, Room 134
Join Residential Life and local landlords for the fall Off-Campus Housing Fair. Students will learn about off-campus housing and resources while connecting with representatives from area apartments and property managers. For more information, please email Residential Life.

University Counseling Center (UCC)

FEEL BETTER FAST WORKSHOP: HELP FOR DEPRESSION, STRESS, AND SLEEP
Thursday, October 5, 1 - 2 p.m., Saint Liam Hall, Room 314

A four-session workshop designed to develop strategies to cope with depression and anxiety, improve sleep, and manage stress. Sessions are educational, offer facilitated activities, and provide an opportunity for participants to give each other ongoing support. Learn more here.

MAP YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM
Thursday, October 5 and Thursday, October 12, 3:30 - 4:45 p.m., Saint Liam Hall Third Floor

There’s more to your nervous system than flight-fight-freeze, and there’s an ease that comes with knowing where you are. In this two-session workshop, students will create a map of their nervous system through the lens of polyvagal theory, which will support them in noticing and naming their A.N.S. state. Students will also identify resources they are already using and incorporate them in supporting their nervous system. Registration is not required, but appreciated. Register here.

WRITING FOR FRIENDSHIP
Fridays, 3:15 - 4:45 p.m., Saint Liam Hall Third Floor

This eight-session support space encourages students to form friendships with their fellow group members through writing, sharing, listening, and asking questions of each other. Registration is not required, but is appreciated. Register here.
Each session will include the following:
  • Write: Prompts are offered for you to reflect on your strengths, preferences, and experiences of well-being.
  • Share: Read your writing aloud, or talk about your experiences of writing.
  • Listen and Build Community: Listen and ask questions. Connect with others and what they choose to share.

McDonald Center for Student Well-Being (McWell)

KNIT AND STITCH
Every Tuesday, 5 - 7 p.m., McWell Restorative Spaces
Join McWell every Tuesday until October 24, to crochet, knit, or embroider. Although Knit and Stitch is B.Y.O. yarn and supplies, we will have limited supplies available as well. All experience levels are welcome. Drop by for tea, conversation, and the opportunity to learn and practice fiber arts.  

RecSports

INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL OFFICIALS CLINIC

Do you love basketball? Are you looking for a way to get more involved on campus? Join RecSports for a basketball officials clinic! All experience levels are welcome, and clinic participants are eligible for hire after attending. RecSports is also still hiring flag football officials. DOMER RUN EARLY PACKET PICK-UP
Thursday, October 5, 3:30 - 7 p.m., Duncan Student Center First Floor

Registered Domer Run participants can pick up their packets between 3:30 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 5. All registrants must have a photo ID to receive their race bib, t-shirt, and race day information. Need a friend to pick up your race packet? Email Veronica Ballinger to sign your waiver in advance.

INSTRUCTIONAL SERIES POP-UP: YIN YOGA
Thursday, October 12, 4:45 - 5:45 p.m., Rockne Memorial Building, Room 205

Yin Yoga is perfect for both beginning and experienced yogis. This class is slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into your mind and your body. Stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while focusing on your breath and engaging with your thoughts. Registration is $8 and is now open on RecRegister.

INSTRUCTIONAL SERIES POP-UP: BARBELL SQUAT WORKSHOP
Thursday, October 12, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Smith Center Bridge Unit

This workshop is designed to improve your approach, execution, and performance in the most essential human movement pattern – the squat! Come ready to learn, move, and have fun! You can expect to improve your warmup processes, your set-up, and your understanding of squat variations for your training goals. Registration is $8 and is now open on RecRegister.

Family Resource Center (FRC)

PREGNANCY SUPPORT SERVICES
For a student facing a planned or unplanned pregnancy, the physical, emotional, and spiritual issues can seem overwhelming. In keeping with its mission as a Catholic University, Notre Dame is committed to life and to offering students resources that support life. Therefore, the University will make every effort to provide pregnant students with caring, non-judgmental, professional assistance and support. Assistance is also available for those affected by the pregnancy of someone close to them. For more information, please email Peggy Hnatusko, Pregnancy Support Specialist at the FRC.
