Student Safety, Health, and Wellness
Saint Liam Hall houses the Office of Alcohol and Drug Education, the University Counseling Center, and University Health Services. Together, these services allow students to seek help for all manner of difficulties—from the flu to depression to alcohol dependence.

University Health Services boasts one of the few remaining 24/7 health care facilities on any campus in the country. A staff of physicians, registered nurses, and a full complement of auxiliary medical personnel provide health care through the ambulatory care clinic and inpatient unit. A six-bed inpatient unit is available for students upon orders of a University physician. Care is provided for students who are recovering from a surgical procedure, who need intravenous fluids or medications, or who require nursing expertise and care. If the student lives on campus, there is no charge for physician and nursing care or for room and meals.
The Office of Alcohol and Drug Education provides prevention, intervention, education, and research in addressing the alcohol and drug issues of the campus community. In keeping with the Catholic mission of the University, this office is uniquely situated to provide services that are faith-supported, holistic in nature, rooted in personal growth, and focused on enhancing the experience of the community at the University of Notre Dame. OADE offers a wide range of services, including confidential alcohol and other drug screening, referrals, a walk-in information center, and educational programs and resources.

The University Counseling Center is staffed by ten licensed psychologists, six counselors, two clinical social workers, a consulting psychiatrist, and a consulting nutritionist. Services include individual and group counseling as well as outreach programs and consultation. Almost 1,000 students sought counseling at the UCC during the past academic year.
The UCC is prepared to assist students will all manner of issues. Concerns that students bring to the Counseling Center include interpersonal relationships, exploration of values, personal growth and well-being, stress management, self-esteem and confidence, social/sexual difficulties, performance enhancement, time management, life and career planning, academic difficulties, sexual assault, anxiety, depression, alcohol/drug abuse, loss and grief, eating disorders, and much more.
Notre Dame Security Police, perhaps the most student-friendly campus police organization in the country, is a fully-authorized police agency in the state of Indiana.

Dedicated to the safety of the campus community, NDSP employs both sworn police officers and non-sworn security officers. NDSP officers maintain a 24-hour patrol of campus every day. In addition to the patrol section, NDSP encompasses an investigation unit, a crime-prevention and technical-services unit, a parking-services unit, and a special-event security unit.
